Lukla

Lukla is a town in the Khumbu area of the Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of north-eastern Nepal. Situated at 2,860 metres (9,383 ft), it is a popular place for visitors to the Himalayas near Mount Everest to arrive.

Lukla is basically just an airport and a strip of hotels. Tenzing-Hillary Airport located there is often named one of the most dangerous airports in the world due to its position against the side of the mountain. The only way you could leave Lukla to move on is by foot - there is no modern transport. There are plenty of awesome mountainous views around Lukla itself.
