During the one-day sightseeing tour you can visit up to four places of interest in Kathmandu city or two places outside the city (on your choice from the list below).
Sightseeing places in Kathmandu:
1. Swayambhunath
An ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city, also known as the Monkey Temple. The Swayambhunath complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines and temples, a Tibetan monastery, museum and library. There are also shops, restaurants and hostels.
2. Pashupatinath
One of the holiest Hindu temple situated 5 Kilometers east of Kathmandu city on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River. Pashupatinath is the center of annual pilgrimage on the day of Shivaratri which falls in the month of February / March. Behind the temples are the cremation grounds.
3. Boudhanath
This stupa, 8 kilometers east of Kathmandu City, is one of the most important centers of Tibetan Buddhism. In the midst of traditional gompas, and hung with long strings of multi-colored prayer flags, Boudhanath attracts Sherpas, Tibetans and tourists alike for daily circumambulations (koras) of the stupa.
4. Kathmandu Durbar Square
is the plaza in front of the old royal palace of the Kathmandu Kingdom. It is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Durbar Square is a synthesis of Hindu and Buddhist temples, stupas and statues, and is often the site of festivals, marriages and other ceremonies.
5. Patan Durbar Square
is situated at the centre of Lalitpur city. It is one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One of its attraction is the Ancient Royal Palace and there are also many temples and idols in the area.
6. Budhanilkantha
The temple is located at the base of Shivapuri Hill on the northern side of Kathmandu valley, 9 km away from the main city. Budhanilkantha is famous for its remarkable statue of sleeping Vishnu about 5 m long lying in the 13m long tank.

7. Bhaktapur
Located about 20 km east of Kathmandu in the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur is known as the ‘City of Devotees’, the ‘City of Culture’, the ‘Living Heritage’, and ‘Nepal’s Cultural Gem’. It is one of the 3 royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Filled with monuments, palaces and temples with gilded roofs, open courtyards, Bhaktapur is still an untouched ancient city that is itself a world to explore for tourists.
8. Changu Narayan
The ancient temple of Changu Narayana is located on a high hilltop about 12 km east of Kathmandu. The Manahara River flows beside the hill. This shrine is dedicated to Lord Visnu and held in especial reverence by the Hindu people. This temple is considered as the oldest one in Nepal.
9. Pharping
About 19 km south of Kathmandu, Pharping is a thriving Newari town whose ancient Buddhist pilgrimage sites have been taken over by large numbers of Tibetans. For Hindus it’s a very sacred and well known place too, because of the Dakshin Kali temple that lies in the valley near Pharping.
